Crum & Forster Holdings (C&F) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fairfax. Based in Morristown, New Jersey, C&F, through its insurance companies, writes commercial property and casualty insurance in the United States offering a broad range of commercial coverage including standard, specialty, and excess and surplus lines. In 2010, C&F's net premiums written were US$733.4 million. At year-end, the company had statutory surplus of US$1,313.5 million and there were over 1,100 employees.

The C&F group of insurance companies include United States Fire Insurance Company, The North River Insurance Company, Crum and Forster Insurance Company, Crum & Forster Indemnity Company, Crum & Forster Specialty Insurance Company, Seneca Insurance Company Inc., and Seneca Specialty Insurance Company, and since February 2011, First Mercury Insurance Company, First Mercury Casualty Company, Valiant Insurance Company, Valiant Specialty Insurance Company, American Underwriters Insurance Company and AMC RE Inc.

C&F is led by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Doug Libby. Doug has been with Fairfax since 2000.
