Group Re is primarily comprised of CRC Reinsurance and Wentworth Insurance, both wholly-owned subsidiaries of Fairfax. Based in Barbados, these companies underwrite treaty and facultative reinsurance on a global basis. In 2010, Group Re’s net premiums written were US$243.3 million. At year-end, the Group Re companies had combined shareholders’ equity of US$432.5 million.
