Pacific Insurance became a subsidiary of Fairfax in early 2011. Based in Kuala Lumpur, the company offers all classes of general insurance in Malaysia including fire, motor and personal accident and is known for being a pioneer and a quality provider of medical insurance. In 2010, Pacific Insurance’s net premiums written were RM109.5 million (approximately RM 3.1 = US$1). At year-end, the company had shareholders’ equity of RM135.4 and there were approximately 200 employees.
